SPIRIT LAKE, Iowa | A Minnesota adult and several juveniles face felony charges in connection to a rash of Dickinson County, Iowa, burglaries.
Dakota Kelly, 18, of Windom, Minn., is charged with trafficking stolen weapons, a class C felony; possession of stolen property, third-degree burglary, carrying weapons and reckless use of a firearm.
On August 23 and 24, the sheriff’s office reported several burglaries and thefts in the East Lake Okoboji, Center Lake and Spirit Lake areas.
The items taken were not immediately disclosed.
After investigation the charges were filed against Kelly. He is being held in Dickinson County jail on a $26,000 bond.
Also, a 17-year-old boy from Spirit Lake was charged with trafficking stolen weapons, third-degree burglary, carrying weapons, reckless use of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
A 15-year-old Spirit Lake boy also faces charges of trafficking stolen weapons, carrying weapons, third-degree burglary, reckless use of a firearm and possession of stolen property.
A 16 year old Spirit Lake male was charged with third degree criminal mischief, third degree burglary and possession of stolen property.
A 16-year-old Milford, Iowa, boy was charged with third-degree burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The juvenile charges were forwarded to the juvenile court system.
Additional details of the burglaries were not immediately available.
The Spirit Lake Police Department, Milford Police Department, Arnolds Park/Okoboji Dive Team and the Windom Police Department assisted with the investigation. -- Greg Forbes
