SIOUX CITY -- The public is invited to attend an educational forum on immigration issues at 6:30 p.m. June 19 in the City Council Chambers. The program will be aired on the public access channel on cable television, Channel 12.

"This is to educate both immigrants and nonimmigrants in our community," Karen Mackey, executive director of the Human Rights Department, said Wednesday. "There are a lot of stereotypes around."

Speakers will be:

-- Priscilla Forsyth, a Sioux City attorney, whose practice includes immigration law and criminal defense. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

-- Christy Nicolaisen, with the Mary Treglia Community House. She is a Bureau of Immigration Appeals-accredited representative. She is not an attorney, but with this certification, she can represent people in most immigration cases.
