SERGEANT BLUFF | A Huntsville, Alabama, man is facing multiple theft and burglary charges after police say he entered a storage facility in Sergeant Bluff and stole an all-terrain vehicle.

According to court documents, video surveillance footage from 4:10 a.m. Feb. 1 shows 35-year-old Spencer Rick Coates entering the Affordable Self Storage facility in Sergeant Bluff through a narrow opening in the facility's main gate. Once inside, footage shows Coates found the keys for a 2013 Polaris Ranger and drove it out of the facility.

Sergeant Bluff Police investigators then found video surveillance footage showing that at 3:51 a.m. the same day, a Nissan Pathfinder, which had also appeared in the Sergeant Bluff footage, was seen at the Affordable Self Storage facility in Sioux City, along with a flatbed trailer with a ramp. Investigators said ample room was left on the trailer to load an ATV on it.

Coates was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree theft and two counts of third-degree burglary. He is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $20,000 bond.
