Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell, founding members of the classic '70s rock band America, are shown. The band will perform at the Orpheum Theatre on Jan. 19, for the opening concert of their 2018 tour.

SIOUX CITY -- Perennial classic rock favorite America comes to the Orpheum Theatre on Jan. 19.

The band's signature song, “A Horse With No Name,” made America a global household name and paved the way for an impressive string of hits that were cornerstones of 1970s Top 40 and FM rock radio, such as, “I Need You,” “Ventura Highway,” “Don’t Cross The River,” “Tin Man,” “Lonely People,” “Sister Golden Hair,” and the chart-topping “You Can Do Magic.”

The combination of founding members Gerry Beckley’s melodic pop rock and Dewey Bunnell’s use of folk-jazz elements, slinky Latin-leaning rhythms, and impressionistic lyric imagery contrasted well with former member Dan Peek’s more traditional country-rock leanings and highly personal lyrics.

Tickets are available beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday and can be purchased at the Tyson Events Center Box Office, online at OrpheumLive.com or by calling 800-514-ETIX.
