People will be able to skate at Cone Park's outdoor skating rink for free during the Cone Park Winterfest on Sunday.

SIOUX CITY | The top new spot for tourists in Iowa? The honor goes to Sioux City's all-seasons Cone Park.

That's according to an MSN lifestyle article outlining "The best new tourist attractions in each state" published online Tuesday, which listed Cone Park as the best fresh spot for tourists visiting the Hawkeye state.

The article highlights the park's "gamut of outdoor fun," which includes a 700-foot tubing hill, refrigerated ice skating rink, fire pit and day lodge in the winter and a two-mile trail loop and splash pad in the summer.

More than 20,000 visited Cone Park during its first winter of operation, which stretched from mid-December to March 11. Those attendance numbers exceeded expectations.

Around the tri-state area, MSN named South Dakota's top attraction as Good Earth State Park near Sioux Falls and Nebraska's as the Sculpture Garden Series at the Museum of Nebraska Art in Kearney.
