WESTFIELD, Iowa -- An Akron man sustained life-threatening injuries after his vehicle collided with a bus carrying members of the Mount Marty College men's golf team in rural Plymouth County Wednesday night.

At around 6:38 p.m., a Jeep Renegade driven by Schon Mack, 18, was northbound on Highway 12, near Westfield. A Ford bus, driven by 24-year-old team coach Logan Wagner, of Parkston, South Dakota, was traveling southbound on Highway 12.

The Jeep apparently tried to pass another northbound vehicle when it collided head-on with the bus, according to a news release from the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office.

Mack was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City with life-threatening injuries. The golf team members were taken to the Hawarden, Iowa, hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol and the sheriff's office are continuing an investigation into the crash.
