WAYNE, Neb. -- A man who was reported missing by the North Sioux City Police Department this week was found dead in an overturned vehicle in a field near Wayne.
According to a notice posted by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on its Facebook page, a motorist noticed the wreck on Highway 35 about 3.5 miles east of Wayne on Thursday evening.
An investigation found that the deceased driver was Parker Mitchell, who was last seen Monday prior to his disappearance. Mitchell had apparently been driving his vehicle westbound as it left the roadway, entered a ditch and overturned in a cornfield.
Lack of seatbelt usage was cited by the sheriff's office as a contributing factor in his death.
