Spread the Joy

SIOUX CITY | A peanut butter and jelly drive for the Food Bank of Siouxland has reeled in more than 1,000 more pounds of the two foods than it did the year before.

Residents and businesses brought 4,697 pounds to local Security National Bank locations throughout Siouxland as part of the second annual "Spread the Joy" drive, which is sponsored by SNB and television station KTIV.

The previous year's drive had raised 3,691 pounds.

Peanut butter and jelly are among the most expensive products for food banks to purchase in large quantities, due to high demand and nutritional value, Food Bank of Siouxland executive director Linda Scheid said in a news release.
