SIOUX CITY -- Pediatric dentist Jeff Howenstein, a certified specialist in children's dentistry, will be visiting Head Start classrooms Tuesday and Wednesday. 

According to Community Action Agency of Siouxland registered nurse Joan Hansen, Howenstein, of Dunes Dental for Kids, has been volunteering his time in Head Start classrooms for five years.

"A healthy mouth and teeth are an important part of a child's wellness," Hansen said, "We are grateful to (have a great resource like Jeff) for our kids."

February also happens to be National Children's Dental Health Month.

The Community Action Agency of Siouxland has 22 early childhood classrooms that serve 384 children. Head Start promotes the school readiness of children ages 3-5 by supporting their development with a focus on education, nutrition, health and family well-being.
