SERGEANT BLUFF, Iowa -- A water main break in Sergeant Bluff is affecting the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community Schools.
Mike Thompson, a Sergeant Bluff public works employee, said a water main break along Air View Drive was reported to the department Tuesday night. The four-inch water line break is only impacting about five or six customers, Thompson said.
"It really shouldn't take too long to repair," Thompson said. "The school is the main user on that end of the line."
Thompson said work would begin on the pipe Wednesday afternoon.
Restrooms at the Sergeant Bluff-Luton Community Schools are impacted by the water main break, he said. Classes were not canceled, and school will let out at the normal time.
The school announced, however, that afternoon Preschool, BASIC and Daycare programs were cancelled after school Wednesday.
For the time being, students and teachers will go to the restroom in a neighboring building.
