SIOUX CITY |  Sioux City Police are investigating a robbery and a kidnapping attempt that occurred Wednesday night.

At approximately 11:54 p.m. an officer attempted to stop a vehicle near 27th and Jennings Streets. The vehicle fled and suspects allegedly threw a gun out of the window.

The vehicle was later located unoccupied in the 2600 block of Douglas Street.

Shortly thereafter, an individual flagged down officers. He told them he had been robbed and kidnapped at gunpoint from his home. Investigators determined the individual was forced into the vehicle. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, he was able to escape.

Officers subsequently learned that two people were injured during the robbery that took place at a home in the 2700 block of Virginia Street. One of the victims required medical attention. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

Police said the investigation into this case is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
