SIOUX CITY | Siouxlanders laced up their walking shoes Wednesday to participate in an annual event to promote Iowa's health and well-being.
Locations throughout the state held their annual Healthiest State Walk Wednesday hosted by the Healthiest State Initiative, a nonprofit focused on helping Iowa boost its health.

Angela Drent with Siouxland District Health said in all, there were 22 scheduled walks in Woodbury County. She had also noticed several people out walking on their own, she said.
About 10 people departed from the Sioux City Public Museum over the noon hour for a 30-minute walk as part of Sioux City's healthiest state walk.
The Healthiest State Initiative is an organization striving to make Iowa the nation's healthiest state by engaging work sites, communities, schools, businesses and individuals.
