A 12-year-old boy was taken into custody Thursday night after leading police on a low-speed chase in a skid loader, damaging a police cruiser in the process.

SIOUX CITY -- A 12-year-old runaway boy was taken into custody Thursday night after leading police on a low-speed chase in a stolen Bobcat skid loader.

Sioux City Police Sergeant Jeremy McClure said the incident happened shortly before 8 p.m. Thursday. The boy led police through the area of Correctionville Road and Green Avenue.

According to a post on the Sioux City Police Department's Facebook page, a police cruiser was damaged when the boy ran the skid loader into it. He was taken into custody after getting the skid loader stuck.

No injuries resulted from the incident, and the boy's name is being withheld due to his age.
