SIOUX CITY | A total of 13 applications have been submitted to fill a Northwest Iowa judicial vacancy caused by the retirement of District Court Judge Edward Jacobson.

The application deadline was Friday for the position in Judicial District 3B, which includes Crawford, Ida, Monona, Plymouth, Sioux and Woodbury counties.

Applicants are: public defenders Billy Oyadare, Laury Lau and Sharese Whitesell, all of Sioux City; Sioux City attorneys Zachary Hindman, Priscilla Forsyth and Mark Cord III; magistrate and attorney Tod Deck, of Sioux City; Assistant Woodbury County Attorney David Dawson, of Lawton; magistrate and attorney Jenny Winterfeld, of Sioux Center; attorney Michael Jacobsma, of Orange City; magistrate and attorney Kara Minnihan, of Onawa; attorney Rosanne Plante, of Hinton; and attorney Michael Frey, of Sergeant Bluff.

The 3B Judicial Nominating Commission will interview the applicants Nov. 20 at the Woodbury County Courthouse and submit the names of two nominees to Governor Kim Reynolds, who will appoint the new judge.
