HULL, Iowa | Officials are searching for five American flags and one state flag stolen from the Hull, Iowa, area.
The thefts occurred between 10 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday. An Iowa and American flag were taken from Boyden-Hull High School, 801 First St. American flags were stolen from Western Christian School, 925 Fifth St., and from residences in the 1300 block of Second Street and the 1100 block of Third Street.
An American flag also was stolen from the 3900 mile of 320th Street in rural Boyden, Iowa.
The flags were the only items stolen from properties. Nothing was damaged. Investigators aren't sure why the flags were taken.
“There’s not going to be a big monetary gain from stealing flags,” said Sioux County Chief Deputy Nate Huizenga.
