OMAHA -- Three Macy, Nebraska, men have been indicted in federal court for an assault that left a man seriously injured.
Indictments charging Alyas Bertucci, 18, Taylor Morris, 20, and DeJuan Parker, 20, with assault in Indian country resulting in serious bodily injury were filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Omaha.
All three are charged with assaulting 67-year-old Herbert Morris on Aug. 18 in Macy.
According to a complaint filed in the case, Taylor Morris, Bertucci and Parker had traveled to a home at 38 Skunk Hollow Drive looking to fight Devontae Lasley, who allegedly had been in a fight with Morris earlier that day. The three men began fighting with Lasley in the front yard, the complaint said, when Lasley's grandfather, Herbert Morris, tried to intervene.
Taylor Morris pushed Herbert Morris to the ground, the complaint said, and he, Bertucci and Parker kicked and stomped on him before leaving the scene.
Herbert Morris suffered serious head and brain injuries and was hospitalized in the intensive care unit at a Sioux City hospital before being transferred to an Omaha rehabilitation facility, according to the complaint.
