SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City man has pleaded not guilty to firing shots at a group of teenagers.

Zachariah Petersen, 29, entered his written plea Thursday in Woodbury County District Court to intimidation with a dangerous weapon, carrying a dangerous weapon, operating while intoxicated and three counts of aggravated assault.

According to court documents, Petersen drove his Ford F-150 pickup truck over a curb and through a fence in the 4200 block of Tyler Street and attempted to run over three 16-year-olds at about 11:15 p.m. on June 18. Petersen then fired two shots from a handgun at the teens as they fled on foot, court documents said.

Officers who responded to the call found Petersen parked in his pickup in the middle of the street blocking traffic. The vehicle was on and in drive, with the emergency break set. He refused to take a sobriety test, court documents said.
