Try 3 months for $3

YANKTON, S.D. -- Law enforcement officers on Wednesday announced the seizure of $445,220 in cash during an ongoing investigation into a fentanyl distribution case.

The recent seizure is related to the October arrests of a Yankton man and woman on numerous charges, according to a news release from South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley and Yankton County Sheriff Jim Vlahakis. There were no additional arrests made in connection with the recent seizure.

Cory Poelstra, 28, and Carissa Sayler, 23, were arrested on numerous drug-related charges, including distribution of fentanyl, an opioid used as a pain medication. A search warrant executed at a Yankton home in October resulted in the seizure of more than $86,000 in cash, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

Poelstra has pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Sioux Falls to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and is scheduled to stand trial in June.

Sayler has a hearing scheduled in Yankton County Circuit Court later this month.
