SIOUX CITY -- A Sioux City man was arrested Friday after authorities say he attempted to rob a woman at gunpoint in Sioux City's Rivers Landing parking ramp.

Shawn Juan Brown, 28, was charged with second-degree robbery following the incident, which occurred around 8 a.m. Friday at the parking ramp, which sits at 419 Douglas St.

Court documents say Brown, who is listed as a transient, had made general conversation at different times that same day with the woman, who works with ABM Parking Services, the contractor that manages the city's downtown parking ramps.

The final time Brown confronted her, documents say he displayed a handgun and demanded the woman to give him all of her money and everything she had, threatening to kill her and bash her head in.

The woman was able to escape Brown and fled. Brown was later located a few blocks away by police.

Brown was booked into the Woodbury County Jail, where he was being held on $10,000 bond.
