PRIMGHAR, Iowa -- A Primghar man was sentenced to 14 days in jail Monday for hitting another man in the head with an automobile exhaust pipe.

Jesse Christopherson, 21, pleaded guilty in O'Brien County District Court to misdemeanor assault with a dangerous weapon. District Judge Nancy Whittenburg suspended all but 14 days of a 364-day jail sentence and placed Christopherson on probation for one year.

Christopherson entered a home in the 200 block of West Third Street in Calumet, Iowa, on Nov. 9 with Austin Eads and Walker Buck and struck the victim in the head with the exhaust pipe, causing a large gash on his forehead. Eads also participated in the assault, and Buck held the door closed so the victim's girlfriend could not stop the assault.

Eads, 22, and Buck, 19, both of Primghar, each pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury or mental illness. They each received a deferred judgment and one year probation and must pay a $315 civil penalty.
