SIOUX CITY -- A Sioux City man was arrested Wednesday on charges of sexually abusing two young girls multiple times over several years.
Cesar Auyon, 55, is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $100,000 bond on two counts of second-degree sexual abuse and single counts of third-degree sexual abuse and indecent contact with a child.
According to a complaint and affidavit filed in Woodbury County District Court, Auyon initiated sexual contact with the first child, for whom he occasionally provided child care, when she was age 6 in November 2010. Auyon is accused of fondling the girl and showing her pornography. The abuse proceeded to sexual contact with the girl when she was age 10 and sexual intercourse at age 13 in November 2017.
Auyon made the second girl, an 8-year-old who was friends with the first girl, watch pornography with him and the first girl beginning in September 2012. Court documents said that Auyon forced the girl to touch him, and he touched her numerous times over her clothing. The abuse continued until September 2013.
A jury in 1997 found Matthew Hallum, now 58, guilty of first-degree murder and first-degree sexual abuse for the 1993 rape and strangling death of 15-year-old Tanya Rubottom in a Sioux City apartment. He is currently serving a life prison sentence.
According to court documents, the man initiated sexual contact with the first child when she was age 6 and had sexual intercourse with her at age 13. He then allegedly made an 8-year-old friend of the first girl watch pornography.
