SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City teenager has pleaded not guilty to participating in two robberies and an assault.

Nevitt Taylor, 17, entered his written plea Monday in Woodbury County District Court to two counts of first-degree robbery and single counts of first-degree theft, assault while participating in a felony and assault causing bodily injury.

According to court documents, Taylor and Matthew Lynam hit a man in the head and stole his coat on Feb. 14 at 14th and Pierce streets. Later in the day, Taylor and Lynam approached a second man in the 1500 block of Pierce Street and demanded he give them his cellphone.

Lynam, 31, of Sioux City, who has pleaded not guilty to robbery, theft and assault charges, is accused of firing a shot at each of the victims.

Taylor is charged in a separate case with second-degree theft after being arrested Feb. 9 in possession of a stolen pickup truck. He has pleaded not guilty.
