DAKOTA CITY -- A South Sioux City man is being held in the Dakota County Jail on a $500,000 bond after his arrest last week on charges of sexually assaulting a child.
After setting the bond amount Monday, Judge Kurt Rager scheduled Federico Hernandez-Manzo's initial appearance for June 12 in Dakota County Court.
Hernandez-Manzo, 41, was arrested Thursday and is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child, third-degree sexual assault of a child and child abuse.
According to court documents, Hernandez-Manzo had sexual contact with a girl who was at least 12 years old but younger than 16 numerous times from March 22 through April 12 at his home in the 1800 block of Missouri View Lane.
The girl said the contact began with pretend hugs and progressed over several days to sexual acts that occurred at night while her mother was sleeping, court documents said. The girl disclosed the sexual contact to her mother and was interviewed earlier this month at the Mercy Child Advocacy Center in Sioux City.
