STORM LAKE, Iowa | The Storm Lake Police Department is searching for leads after a pair of trees and piece of chainsaw art were vandalized at Awaysis and Sunset parks last week.

Storm Lake Public Safety Director Mark Prosser said the incident occurred over a period of time late last week along the lake trail. An unknown suspect or suspects cut down two trees and damaged a wood carving of a bird created by a chainsaw artist during the city's Wood, Wine and Blues Festival that was on display.

Prosser said police are requesting anyone with information to contact the department at 712-749-2525 or 712-732-8010.

He said the vandalism would likely result in a criminal mischief charge, with the severity based on the value of the damaged materials. Prosser did not immediately have information on the value of the chainsaw art.
