SIOUX CITY -- Sioux City Police have arrested a 22-year-old man wanted on an attempted murder charge in connection with an Aug. 1 shooting in the Greenville neighborhood.

Police arrested Isaac "Gus" McDonald shortly before 4:30 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. The arrest came just a few hours after releasing his photo to the public.

McDonald was being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $100,000 bond.

The Aug. 1 shooting occurred around 10:20 p.m. in the 200 block of Alice Street. Officers found a vehicle that had partially left the roadway and came to a rest after striking a tree. Inside the car, the driver -- identified Monday as 28-year-old John Mercure, of Sioux City -- was found to have a gunshot wound to his head.

He remains in critical condition.

Police worked with the U.S. Marshals Service Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force Monday to issue a request to the public for information on McDonald's whereabouts. They said they could also seek criminal charges against anyone found to be assisting, aiding, abetting or harboring him.

Police did not immediately release information on where McDonald was located. Police say the investigation into the incident is continuing.
