SIOUX CITY -- A Whiting, Iowa, man pleaded guilty Wednesday to failing to report thousands of dollars in farm income and filing false tax returns.

Kurt Neldeberg, 64, entered his plea in U.S. District Court in Sioux City to making a false and fraudulent tax return.

Neldeberg faces a possible maximum sentence of three years in prison, a $250,000 fine and $100 special assessment. He will also be required to pay the taxes due on the unreported income. A sentencing date has yet to be set.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Neldeberg admitted that from at least 2009 through 2012 he did not report $315,512 in income from grain sales, resulting in unpaid taxes.
