SIOUX CITY -- A Sioux City teacher was one of five finalists for Iowa Teacher of the Year.
Susan Jordan, a second-grade teacher at Morningside Elementary, had been named the 2018 Sioux City Community School District (SCCSD) Teacher of the Year Award.
Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Ames chemistry teacher Aileen Sullivan as Iowa Teacher of the Year at a luncheon Friday in Ames, in which Jordan also attended. Sullivan, 43, has taught at Ames High School since 1996.
Jordan also will attend an educator’s forum next week. As one of five finalists for the statewide award, she will continue to serve as an ambassador to education and act as liaison to schools, higher education, and organizations across the state.
The Iowa Teacher of the Year Award is sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education through an appropriation from the state Legislature.
