SCHLESWIG, Iowa -- One man was life flighted to a medical facility after a Sunday afternoon camper explosion.

According to a press release from the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, at around 1:59 p.m. Sunday an explosion was reported at a camper at 207 Cedar St. in Schleswig.

Brett Nuzum, 28, of Kiron, Iowa, had opened the door of his camper to light a cigarette outside when it exploded. The camper was parked behind three buildings -- Cheeta's Bar and Grill, Crossgrain Woodworking and the Schleswig Community Building -- all of which suffered minor damage to their exterior walls.
