In fall 2016, several South Sioux City residents were displaced from their homes due to noxious sewer gas odors. The homes at the time shared a sewer line with industries in the Roth Industrial Park, including the new industry Big Ox Energy, which converts organic waste to renewable fuel.

Big Ox Energy in mid-January released a report connecting the problems to failures in the homes' plumbing systems. The report included a map showing the affected homes and whether they passed or failed sewer tests conducted by Quality Plumbing.

Residents dispute that their plumbing systems were the cause.

Here is a map of the affected homes and the results of the plumbing tests.
