SIOUX CITY | A criminal charge has been filed against a man who authorities say kicked a dog at a Sioux City home, causing fatal injuries.
Jay Alexander, 32, of Galveston, Texas, was charged with a count of animal abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Alexander struck the dog, a Chihuahua, during a fight at a home in the 400 block of 16th Street on Oct. 20, according to court documents. The dog hit its head on a table and later died, officials said.
Officials did not say how Alexander knew the dog's owner or why he was at the home.
Alexander was arrested Thursday. He is being held at Woodbury County Jail on $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. Dec. 15.
