Lyle E. Davis, 79, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Sioux City. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, South Sioux City. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today, with the family present at 6 p.m. and the rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City.
Lyle was born on May 2, 1938, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Frank and Alice (Ridley) Davis. He grew up in Mapleton, Iowa, and also lived in Sioux City, Sergeant Bluff and South Sioux City.
Lyle married Darlene Goreham on March 23, 1973, in Dakota City. He was a jet mechanic, serving with the U.S. Air Force for four years and the Air National Guard for 26 years. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam, before retiring as a master sergeant.
Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, bowling, watching hockey games and the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Davis; two daughters, Julie Smith and special friend, Mark Vandromme, and Connie Brown; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, ElDonna Feldhacker.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Alice Davis; two sisters, Shirley and Ardith; and two brothers, Larry and Les.
