SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City man and woman are facing theft charges after police said they attempted to steal more than $1,500 in merchandise from Kohl's by stashing items in a suitcase.

According to court documents, Jennifer Marie Harris, 33, of Sioux City, went into the Kohl's at 5001 Sergeant Road in Sioux City around 1 p.m. Sunday, packed a purple suitcase full of merchandise and hid the suitcase behind merchandise inside the store. Then, her accomplice, 20-year-old Chase Lillibridge, also of Sioux City, picked up the suitcase a short time later.

On Monday, shortly after 5 p.m., officers were called to the same Kohl's store for a theft in progress. The store's loss prevention representative took officers inside the store and showed a suitcase the defendant had stashed behind merchandise near the front door. Documents say items in the suitcase would have sold in the store for more than $1,500.

Harris was charged with second- and fourth-degree theft and is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on $6,000 bond.

Lillibridge was charged with fourth-degree theft, as well as a drug possession charge. He is being held on $3,500 bond.
