SIOUX CITY | A long day of Siouxland rain could be accompanied by late Friday thunderstorms.
The National Weather Service forecast for Sioux City includes rain into midday Saturday. The rain in the city and surrounding counties began Thursday, and all the rain could end a recent dry period where grass fires broke out in Siouxland.
The weather service said more than an inch of rain may fall over the three-day duration.

The Friday forecast for Sioux City includes a 70 percent chance of rain, with a thunderstorm possible after 4 p.m. The day will be cloudy with an estimated high of 47 degrees. The weather service is not anticipating troublesome thunderstorms.
Rain is expected to continue overnight, with a 90 percent chance of precipitation. On Saturday, there is a 40 percent chance of rain through 1 p.m., when the chance of rain becomes slight. The Saturday high is forecast at 50 degrees.
Two cloudy days with no rain are anticipated for Sunday and Monday. The predicted high on Sunday is 53 degrees, with 58 degrees on Monday.
The forecast for following days includes high temperatures of about 60 degrees.
