SIOUX CITY -- The Sioux Falls National Weather Service is forecasting a possible first snow of the 2018-19 winter to fall Saturday night or Sunday morning.

Janice Maldonado, an NWS meteorologist, said scattered rain showers could begin sometime around 9 p.m. Saturday, which will transition to snow later in the night.

What time the rain turns into snow will depend "on how fast the temperature drops," she said.

A total of 1 to 2 inches of snow could accumulate by Sunday. It probably won't stick around, however, as Monday's high temperature is pegged at 45 degrees.
