SIOUX CITY | A Sioux City man has been placed on probation for hitting his 12-year-old autistic son.
Roman McDaniel, 42, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Woodbury County District Court to child endangerment, an aggravated misdemeanor.
District Judge Duane Hoffmeyer suspended a two-year prison sentence and placed McDaniel on probation for two years. McDaniel must also undergo substance abuse and mental health evaluations.
According to court documents, McDaniel became angry with his son's behavior on Nov. 23, pushed him onto a bed, got on top of him and punched him in the face, giving the child a bloody nose. Police said McDaniel hit his son multiple times that night.
