Julie and Bill Morgan of Merrill, Iowa, participate in the 39th annual CROP Hunger Walk along Morningside Avenue Oct. 18, 2015.

SIOUX CITY | The Siouxland Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty Hunger Walk placed 59th out of 1,200 events nationwide in 2015, earning the Cream of the Crop status.

As one of the top 100 CROP hunger walks in the country, 25 percent of the $30,787 in donations the walks have earned will remain local to help fight hunger.

The funds will be used by Interfaith Resources and Community Action Agency of Siouxland for their food programs.

The 39th annual hunger walk was held in October, with more than 300 walkers enjoying a sunny stroll down Morningside Avenue to raise funds.
