Weather stock sunny

Sunny skies will dominate Siouxland's weather this week, according to Kyle Weisser, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls.

SIOUX CITY | After a couple wet, cloudy days, Siouxlanders can enjoy some sunshine and cooler temperatures.

After thousands in the area enjoyed the solar eclipse early Monday afternoon, storm clouds entered the area, dumping rain on a widespread area, including 1.47 inches at Sioux Gateway Airport. Monday afternoon's rain came after scattered heavy rains over the area late Sunday and early Monday.

Siouxlanders can expect conditions to dry out during the next couple days, said Janice Maldonado, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls. Sioux City's weather pattern will be quiet until late Thursday, when chances of rain return Thursday night and all day Friday.

Before then, the region can expect sunny skies and pleasant temperatures. Tuesday's high is forecast at 77 degrees. The temperature will climb to 80 degrees on Wednesday, then high temperatures are expected to be in the upper 70s the rest of the week.

The low temperature tonight is expected to be 52 degrees, with lows in the lower 60s the remainder of the week.
