LAUREL, Neb. | A South Sioux City man was killed Thursday evening in a head-on collision south of Laurel, Nebraska.
Officials pronounced Aaron Surber, 25, dead at the scene of the accident, which happened around 7:10 p.m., according to a release from the Cedar County Sheriff's Office.
Surber was driving north on Highway 15 in a Jeep Liberty when he crossed the center line, overcorrected, crossed the line again and then hit a Chevy pickup truck driven by Tyler Vrba, 23, of Laurel.
The impact caused Surber's vehicle to roll multiple times and he was ejected during the crash. A passenger in Vrba's pickup truck, Kelly Konecko, 33, suffered minor injuries and was taken to Providence Medical Center in Wayne.
Both Konecko and Vrba were wearing seat belts. Surber wasn't wearing a seat belt, the release said.
The sheriff's office said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
The Laurel Volunteer Fire and Ambulance, Coleridge Police Department and Laurel Police Department assisted at the scene.
