REMSEN, Iowa | Officials have named John Marvin Vanwyke Jr., of Sheldon, Iowa, as the man who died in a three-vehicle crash in Plymouth County Wednesday.

Vanwyke, 63, died from injuries in the chain-reaction wreck, after being airlifted to a Sioux City hospital, the Plymouth County Sheriff's Office said Friday.

The collision involved two semi trucks and a pickup at the intersection of Iowa Highway 140 and County Road C-44, between Kingsley and Remsen.

The collision of the two vehicles caused Moon's utility trailer to be detached and go into the southbound lane, where it was struck by another semi, driven by Vanwyke. He was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center -- Sioux City, where he later died.

Vanwyke was driving was registered to Deluxe Feeds Inc., of Sheldon. Moon and Hainzinger were transported to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, where they were treated and released.
