Carly Kreibaum, 33, of Sutherland, Iowa, was among the 58 people fatally shot Oct. 1 in Las Vegas. Her funeral is scheduled for Saturday in Sutherland.

LAS VEGAS | A family member Tuesday evening confirmed the death of Sutherland, Iowa, resident Carly Kreibaum, a victim in the largest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Kreibaum, a native of Sibley, Iowa, was believed to be one of at least 59 persons shot and killed during a Sunday night incident in which lone gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on a crowd of some 22,000 people attending the Route 91 Harvest Festival, a country-music extravaganza on the Las Vegas Strip. Paddock injured more than 500 people before turning the gun on himself in his room at the Mandalay Bay resort which overlooked the outdoor concert venue.

Kreibaum attended the festival with friends, Alison Huckaby, of Sutherland, and Amy Douglas, of Cherokee, Iowa. The latter two concert-goers escaped the melee and were separated from Kreibaum just after she was hit with a bullet.

Kreibaum's husband, Chris Kreibaum, flew to Las Vegas Tuesday morning to search for her whereabouts.

Tuesday morning, Kreibaum's husband, Chris, posted a public update to his Facebook page thanking friends for the support. Early Tuesday evening, a Facebook post for Las Vegas United listed Carly Kreibaum as one of the victims, a post that touched off a reaction from Facebook users across Northwest Iowa, including those who left prayers and sentiment of sympathy and support for the Kreibaum family on the Facebook page of the Sutherland Church of Christ, which hosted a community prayer gathering for Carly on Monday night.

According to Kreibaum's Facebook page, she is a native of Sibley, Iowa, who graduated from Sibley-Ocheyedan High School and Wayne State College. She and Chris have two small children.

A public photo on her timeline shows her and her two friends in front of the Venetian Las Vegas. It was posted just after 2 p.m. Sunday.
