LE MARS | One man was found seriously injured after a vehicle rollover accident Saturday near Le Mars.

The Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office responded to an accident near Highway 60 and 140th Street.

According to authorities, a 1992 Cadillac Deville, driven by Joseph Angel Chacon, 56, of Le Mars, had been traveling southbound on Highway 60 when it left the roadway and entered the median.

The vehicle crossed northbound lanes and entered the east ditch, then vaulted and rolled several times before coming to a stop on its top.

Chacon was found unresponsive and trapped inside the vehicle. When freed, he was taken to Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, and then flown by helicopter to a Sioux Falls hospital.

His injuries are considered serious.

The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending. The sheriff’s office believes alcohol is a factor in the accident.
