CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) -- The fiance of a slain girl's mother has asked for a delay in his trial on federal pornography charges.
Casey Frederiksen, 26, of Charles City, was indicted in September for possession of child pornography.
The indictment said there were more than 1,000 still photos or movies on a computer hard drive he had in the apartment he shared Noel Miller and her daughter, Evelyn, 5, who disappeared on July 1. He gave the hard drive to a neighbor the morning Evelyn disappeared. The neighbor turned it over to investigators.
Evelyn Miller's body was found five days later about two miles from her home along the Cedar River.
No charges have been filed in her death.
Frederiksen is being held in the Linn County jail on the pornography charges.
His trial was scheduled for Dec. 5, but federal public defender Jane Kelly filed a motion on Friday asking that the trial be delayed until February. She said the defense needs time to analyze evidence in the case, including a copy of the computer hard drive.
Kelly said the defense also needs time to review testimony from grand jury witnesses.
