DES MOINES -- Don Bosco pulled away from Remsen St. Mary's in the second half to win the Class 1A third-place game at the Iowa Boys State Basketball Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena on Thursday.

The Hawks had a two-point lead at halftime, 29-27, but struggled shooting the ball in the second half as they made just 9 of 29 shots and went 0 of 5 from the 3-point line.

Don Bosco had only 17 shots in the second half, making eight, including three 3-pointers. The Don's also went 15 of 16 at the charity stripe after halftime and were 20 of 21 in the game.

Remsen St. Mary's (26-2), which fell to Grand View Christian in the semifinals for the second straight year, was led by Derrick Schorg who had 18 points while Carter Kuchel had 13. Spencer Schorg and Brody Ricke both added 10 points.

The game was a rematch of the eight-man football championship game also won by the Dons.

Don Bosco (24-4) got 24 points from both Jack Kelley and Zach Nie.

This is the second year that the Hawks finished fourth.
