SIOUX CITY | Cricket Wireless' slogan of "something to smile about" rings true for Tom Boschen since opening its 820 Hamilton Blvd. location in March.

"Everything has been great," the sales manager for Cricket's authorized retailer Summit Mobile said. "We have had a very good customer reaction, our customer base continues to grow because people are finding out about what we are about. They tell their friends because of the price point and the services are both fantastic compared to other options around the area."

Cricket Wireless is a prepaid cell phone service with headquarters in Atlanta, and stores in every state. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T Inc. There are over 20 Cricket stores in Iowa, plus many places like Summit Mobile, Wal-Mart, Gamestop and Target are licensed retailers.

About two years ago Cricket came to Sioux City with a kiosk in the Singing Hills Mall. In March of last year, Cricket opened its Hamilton Boulevard location in a unique green building that sits on short cement columns at the corner of Wesley Parkway and Hamilton Boulevard.

"It used to be a car lot we just leased the building to turn it into Cricket, it is in a good location, regardless of what it looks like," Boschen said. "The nice thing about it being up on stilts is everybody knows the building."

Cricket is also growing to a store in the Shoppes at Northern Valley strip mall in the 3100 block of Floyd Blvd.

Boschen said the growth is attributed to being one of the only 4G LTE carriers in the area that runs off one of the nation's largest network, AT&T.

"Phone plans also don't have caps on internet usage," he said.

He added that the company carries most of the same big brands of phones-- like Samsung and Apple-- but they also offer brands that many competitors do not.
