VERMILLION, S.D. | Four University of South Dakota athletic programs – volleyball, softball, women’s golf and men’s cross country – were recognized for academic excellence after scoring a perfect 1,000 in the most recent Academic Progress Rates.
The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the academic performance of each team in every sport. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates based on scores from the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.
“I applaud every program earning a Public Recognition Award this year for their commitment to going above and beyond to prepare students for life after college through academic achievement,” NCAA President Mark Emmert said.
Nine Coyote programs have earned perfect APR scores since the first announcement 10 years ago. Men’s cross country and softball have earned perfect scores three times in the last four years.
Women’s golf earned its third perfect score while volleyball claimed its second. All four programs have an average score of 986 or better in the 10-year span.
