SIOUX CITY -- Morningside College’s Nathan DeChaine, a senior third baseman from Brainerd, Minn., was named a 2018 NAIA Baseball Honorable Mention All-American.
DeChaine, the 2018 Hauff-MidAmerica Sports/Great Plains Athletic Conference Player of the Year, received honorable mention All-America honors for the third year in a row to become the only three-time NAIA All-America baseball player in Morningside history. He was also a three-time first-team All-GPAC selection. DeChaine is the Mustangs’ all-time career leader with 47 home runs and 212 RBIs and ranks second in school history with 244 career hits.
DeChaine was the Mustangs’ leading hitter this season with a team-high 59 hits in 157 at-bats for a .376 batting average to go along with a team-high 14 home runs and 49 RBIs. He was the Mustangs’ first player to lead the team in all three Triple Crown hitting categories since Jared Noteboom batted .391 with 10 home runs and 67 RBIs in 2000.
DeChaine topped the GPAC in home runs and RBIs and was the league’s fourth leading hitter.
