SEWARD, Neb. | Conlon McKenzie hit a three-run home run to break a 2-2 tie the fifth inning and Midland went on to win the Great Plains Athletic Conference post-season baseball tournament 5-3 over Concordia Tuesday.
The win advances the Warriors (40-18) to the NAIA Opening Round, who will join Concordia (33-20) who also qualified as the regular season GPAC champion.
McKenzie drove in all five runs for Midland, also lining a two-run double in the first inning to give his team an early 2-0 lead. Wade Council pulled the Bulldogs within 2-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the first and tied the game in the third scoring one run on an error.
Former Sioux City West athlete Tanner Wauhob was the starting pitcher for Concordia and pitched three innings giving up four hits and two runs.
