QUESTION: If MLB selects the Cards and Cubs to play in London in 2020, where would that rank in terms of the most interesting series you've ever had the chance to cover? Having lived overseas, most of the Brits I've met understand baseball as well as we do Cricket. What kind of atmosphere do you think Fredbird should expect?
GOOLD: It would, honestly, be on the short list of coolest things I've had a chance to do in my career. Covering baseball in London is something I had hoped to do when the Olympics went there. I didn't get that chance. This would be that chance. People who only know me a little bit know, of course, of my fondness for baseball and also my fondness for London. Had the chance to spend an evening there just a week or so ago, honestly. It is one of my favorite cities -- and to see a baseball series there between two great rivals and have the challenge of rising to the occasion with my writing -- a career peak, for sure. Maybe the coolest event outside of October. I just have to earn the assignment.
