FREMONT, Neb. | A hot-shooting Morningside men's team turned back No. 17 Midland 100-90 in the opening round of the GPAC Tournament here Wednesday.
The Mustangs shot 66 percent from the floor and 63 percent behind the arc as they hit 12 3s. They also went 10 of 11 at the free throw line to overwhelm the Warriors.
Five Morningside players reached double figures as Ryan Tegtmeier led the way with 21 points while both Pierce Almond and Alex Borchers had 19. Tyler Borchers added 16 points and Bryce Koch ahd 14.
Midland shot well too, hitting 61 percent of its shots and 14 3-pointers. Diamontae McKinley led the way with 21 points.
Both teams are now 21-9 on the season. Morningside will now travel across town to face Briar Cliff in the semifinals.
