SIOUX CENTER, Iowa | Zach Imig provided team-highs of 20 points, nine rebounds and five assists Wednesday night while leading the 10th-ranked Morningside men’s basketball team to a 93-72 Great Plains Athletic Conference win over Dordt at DeWitt Gymnasium.
Coach Jim Sykes’ Mustangs (22-6, 14-4 GPAC) clinched at least a share of the league championship. En route to their third straight win and closing the conference schedule, Sykes' squad , has half-a-game lead over second-place and No. 7 Briar Cliff (24-5, 13-4), which was idle Wednesday night.
The league-leading Mustangs shot 55.8 percent, which included 10 of 20 from 3-point range. Brody Egger made 3 of 4 3s while scoring 15 points for Morningside.
Tyler Borchers added 15 points and seven rebounds while Trey Brown and Andrew Semadeni added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Alec Henrickson made a game high four shots from beyond the arc while leading Dordt (11-19, 5-13) with 12 points. Chad Barkema finished with 10 points.
